Government officials held a press conference this morning, with the aim of providing details on the reception of visitors to El Salvador as part of the 2022 New Year’s Plan.
«The government of President Nayib Bukele is ready for the high season of visitors. From their first step through the air terminal, passengers will witness the transformations of the country,” said the president of the Autonomous Executive Port Commission (CEPA), Federico Anliker López.
According to the Ministry of Tourism, between November and December, at least 400,000 visitors are projected to enter the country by air and land, which could generate more than $365 million in foreign currency from tourism. With these figures, El Salvador could reach 2.4 million visitors by the end of 2022 and generate an income of $2.4 billion in foreign currency.
The authorities reiterated that they are prepared to guarantee optimal attention to tourists and nationals who arrive at the International Airport of El Salvador, “San Óscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdámez”.
“The care plan consists of over 1,600 employees, including air operations personnel, user service representatives, cleaning crews, security personnel, and rescue, medical, and response equipment,” CEPA’s head explained.
It is worth mentioning that the 2022 End of Year Plan was launched by the government last Thursday, November 17, and will be active until January 2, 2023. This strategy will involve 100,000 people from different institutions who will provide security and help to the Salvadorans.
According to Federico Anliker López, the personnel that will assist visitors who arrive in the country are made up of Customs, Migration, and Immigration, the National Civil Police (PNC), and the Ministries of Agriculture and Livestock, and Health.
“70 members of the National Public Security Academy (ANSP) and VMT managers will also join this effort and be in the different public areas of our airport,” he reiterated.
