The embassy of the People’s Republic of China in El Salvador issued an official statement this afternoon in which it denies a journalistic note published by “La Prensa Gráfica”, in which they deny that El Salvador received as a non-refundable donation the funds for the purchase of real estate and the construction of the new National Library from China and notes that the government has disbursed funds for such purposes.
However, the Chinese embassy clarified in the statement that, in effect, the construction of the National Library has cost El Salvador zero cents since the entire project has been financed by the Asian country, thanks to the ties of friendship maintained by the government of President Nayib Bukele with said nation.
«The project of the new National Library, currently under development, including the purchase of all the buildings necessary for its construction, has been fully financed by non-reimbursable cooperation funds donated by the People’s Republic of China to the Government of El Salvador, starting from the bonds of friendship existing between the two countries, for the well-being of the Salvadoran people, and within the framework of South-South cooperation”, clarifies the community.
In addition, the embassy asked “La Prensa Gráfica” to respect the real facts about the origin of the funds and the contribution of the People’s Republic of China towards the development of El Salvador.
