El Salvador shared its accomplishments and best practices at the Annual Conference Against Gangs in New York

The Minister of Security, Gustavo Villatoro, participated in the Annual Conference Against Gangs that took place in New York City, to describe the strategies implemented by the Government of El Salvador to combat these criminal groups and the good results obtained till date.

«President Nayib Bukele’s security strategies have become an example of the work of the police in different cities in the United States. For years, El Salvador was synonymous with violence. Now the story has changed», Villatoro highlighted through his Twitter account.

The official announced, before more than 500 representatives of law enforcement agencies and police from different cities in the United States, the phases of the Territorial Control Plan and the application of the exception regime, which has led to more than 56,000 arrests.

In this sense, Villatoro thanked Errol D. Toulon, Sheriff of Suffolk County, New York, for the invitation to participate in the conference and for allowing him to “share the actions and advances in matters of public security in the fight against organized terrorists.”
