The International Airport of El Salvador, San Óscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdámez mobilized more than 70,000 passengers, incoming and outgoing, for seven days, from June 27 to July 3, reported the Autonomous Executive Port Commission (CEPA).
The data confirms that the aerodrome is one of the most important in the region, since it connects with 29 international destinations.
Currently, Salvadorans and international tourists can connect with the country from: Atlanta, Dallas-Fort Worth, Fort Lauderdale, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Newark, Ontario, Orlando, San Francisco, and Washington, in the United States. While, for Europe, one of the arrival and departure points is Madrid, Spain.
Similarly, Canada’s Montréal and Toronto, as well as Cancn and Mexico City, have connections to El Salvador.
Regarding destinations in Latin America, the Thumb of America offers visitors and Salvadorans direct flights to Belize, Guatemala, San Pedro Sula, Comayagua, Roatán, Managua, San José, Panama, Bogotá, Quito, Guayaquil, and Lima.
In addition, from January 1 to July 3, 2022, according to CEPA, 1,708,669 inbound and outbound passengers were served, in addition to 17,964 commercial passenger flights, at the El Salvador International Airport, the airport institution detailed.
“Between June 26 and the 3rd of this month, there were 70,380 incoming and outgoing travelers mobilized by the 12 passenger airlines that operate in the main air terminal in the country,” explained CEPA.
Another important fact is that the 1,708,669 passengers served from January 1 to July 3 represent 67.8% of the total that were served in 2021.
The foregoing shows that the Salvadoran air terminal continues to rapidly approach the 2,520,733 passengers that were served, through 29,488 commercial flights, throughout last year.
Most of the visitors are Salvadorans residing abroad, especially in the United States, who take advantage of their vacations to visit the thousands of tourist attractions in the country.
Another group of visitors to the country is for business purposes, with the goal of making commercial contacts.
On the other hand, the excellent performance in the movement of entries and exits to the air terminal also has to do with the increase in international tourists, thanks to the fact that El Salvador has been positioned internationally through the flagship project of the Government of President Nayib Bukele , Surf City, through which it seeks to turn the country into a world-class tourist destination.
