According to official figures provided by the Government of President Nayib Bukele, through his Security Cabinet, as of Monday, the total number of gang members or collaborators arrested under the Exception Regime amounts to 44,344.
The Salvadoran Public Security authorities assure that the more than 44 thousand criminals arrested have been for their links with terrorist groups throughout the national territory in the 100 days of application of the Exception Regime.
The Exception Regime was initially approved by the Salvadoran Congress on March 27th, in response to the last rise in homicides registered the day before.
In this sense, said legal tool has been extended by the First Legislative Body so that State institutions such as the National Civil Police (PNC), the Armed Forces of El Salvador (FAES), and the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic (FGR) ) continue with the War Against Gangs, to eradicate crime in the country and provide the security that the population deserves.
