The Minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez, reported this Monday that the earnings of the two recent tournaments that have been projected between May and June on the coast of El Salvador, thanks to the organization of Surf City, are estimated at more than $8 million in favor of the Salvadoran economy and tourism.
“I thank the leadership of President Nayib Bukele for betting on this sport and all that it means as an anchor in the development of tourism,” the minister declared in an interview this morning to provide an overview of the field.
The championships referred to by the minister are the Surf City El Salvador ISA World Junior Surfing Championship 2022, which was held on the beaches of El Sunzal and El Tunco, in the department of La Libertad, between May 27 and June 5.
“This has been the largest Junior World Championship of the International Suf Association in history”, highlighted the officials of the event, which brought together more than 40 delegations from different parts of the world dedicated to surfing.
“The Surf City El Salvador ISA World Junior Surfing Championship 2022 has been a new experience for us (…). The competitors emphasized a lot on the warmth of the people and the infrastructure”, revealed the minister.
The next tournament to be held on the Salvadoran coast is the WSL Championship Tour, which will take place from June 12 to 20 this year, which will also bring together international-class athletes in the region.
