The Presidential Commissioner for Strategic Projects, Cristian Flores, highlighted that several foreign companies are interested in starting the shipyard in the Port of La Unión.
He assured that this project reinforces the strategy of creating a logistics hub in the eastern part of the country.
“There is a Korean company that contacted us four days ago to come next week, they are interested in operating the shipyard, but there is also another English company” — Flores emphasized.
Flores stated that with being just an initiative that is very advanced, he has glimpsed how it has generated great expectation. “I believe that this is going to be the largest maritime project that the country is going to have” — he said.
Among the projects planned by the Government of President Nayib Bukele that attract the attention of foreign investors is the Shipyard in La Unión, the Pacific Airport, and the Pacific Train, among others.
With the construction of the Shipyard in the department of La Unión, it is expected to generate around 6,000 direct jobs, according to government projections.
