The President of the Development Bank of Latin America will visit El Salvador next week

The Minister of Finance, Alejandro Zelaya, informed he expects the visit of the president of the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF), Sergio Díaz Granados, next week. The visit is in regards to El Salvador’s initiative to join CAF.

According to the head of the Treasury, El Salvador had received several offers in the past to join the Development Bank of Latin America. The official questions why past governments never wanted to enter.

“The Development Bank of Latin America, also known as CAF, as a multilateral organization, provides a new option to carry out operations for the development of the country” — Zelaya said.

The official explained that, for El Salvador, it is very important to diversify its financing matrix, with respect to the government’s initiative to join the Development Bank of Latin America.

“We must have some partners to continue giving impetus to the economy. These partners lower the costs for the government and the start-up of a variety of projects. We are waiting for the CAF Board of Governors’ ratification” —he added.
