Half a ton of cocaine valued at more than $ 12 million was seized last weekend during an operation carried out by the National Civil Police (PNC) in conjunction with the Armed Forces and the Attorney General’s Office (FGR).
Two Salvadorans were arrested in this case, identified as Arturo Cerón Velásquez and Rafael Cruz Gómez, according to the PNC.
The authorities reported that the drug seizure was made in the El Bajón mouth, municipality of Puerto El Triunfo, department of Usulután, where two boats carrying 20 packages containing 500 kilos of cocaine were intercepted.
The criminals tried, but the authorities gave them persecution until they were captured.
“When our human talent was conducting preventive patrols in the area, when he observed a suspicious boat, this one, upon noticing our presence, tried to make a maneuver to flee, managing to catch up,” — the Police announced.
