ARENA deputy, Francisco Lira, has emphasized that the case of the murder of Jesuit priests at the Central American University (UCA) in November 1989 should “be closed.” These statements were given as a result of the decision of the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice to accept an injunction presented by the Attorney General of the Republic, Rodolfo Delgado.
Lira has said that even the Catholic Church has asked that the case be closed, adding that it should not be used for political purposes or to gain some kind of advantage.
Regarding rumors of the possible cancellation of the ARENA party, the rightist legislator has said that they are focused on doing territorial work with the Salvadoran population.
