Luis Haug, general manager of polling firm CID Gallup, highlighted the contrast between public perceptions of El Salvador’s current and former leadership, describing President Nayib Bukele as an international reference point.

Speaking on the television program Frente a Frente, Haug recalled that former President Salvador Sánchez Cerén had reached a negative approval rating at a comparable point in his administration. In contrast, he characterized Bukele’s standing as exceptional, stating that the Salvadoran leader has become more than a president and is now viewed by many as a global role model.

The remarks draw attention to the differing public approval trajectories of the two administrations and the international attention surrounding Bukele’s leadership.

Bukele’s political profile has attracted interest beyond El Salvador, particularly in discussions of public security and government policy. Haug’s comments underscore how the president’s popularity and governing approach continue to feature in regional and international political analysis.
