El Salvador will open a new mausoleum dedicated to Francisco Morazán on Thursday, September 24, providing a permanent site for the remains of the Central American political and military leader in the heart of San Salvador’s Historic Center.
According to President Nayib Bukele, Morazán’s remains have been transferred to the newly constructed mausoleum, located beside the National Palace within the newly developed Central America Garden.
The new site was designed specifically to safeguard Morazán’s remains and establish a dedicated space for visitors to learn about his historical significance in Central America.
The Francisco Morazán Mausoleum in San Salvador will officially open to the public at 7:00 p.m. on September 24, with admission free of charge. The opening will add another historical attraction to the revitalized Historic Center, where several landmarks and public spaces have been incorporated into the capital’s cultural and tourism offering.
The new mausoleum provides visitors with an additional opportunity to engage with El Salvador’s history and Central American heritage, while placing the remains of one of the region’s most prominent historical figures in a dedicated public setting.
