A newborn who arrived in El Salvador in critical condition after receiving a terminal prognosis in Guatemala is now showing encouraging signs of recovery following specialized medical treatment.
The 23-day-old baby, Neithan Flores, was transferred to El Salvador from the Amatitlán Hospital in Guatemala after his family sought assistance to continue his treatment. His case drew attention after his Salvadoran mother appealed to President Nayib Bukele for help securing specialized care for her son.
In response, medical teams from El Salvador traveled to Guatemala to coordinate the newborn’s transfer. He arrived in the country in critical condition and was subsequently admitted to a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), where he remains under continuous specialized medical supervision.
Since receiving care in El Salvador, Neithan has demonstrated favorable medical progress, according to information shared about his condition. His improvement has offered renewed hope to his family following the difficult prognosis they had previously received.
