Four promising Salvadoran students have been officially selected to represent El Salvador at the 19th Ibero-American Biology Olympiad (OIAB) in São Paulo, Brazil. The nation’s delegation—comprising Olbin Sosa, Isabela Granados, Pedro Zelada, and Diego Rosales—was presented by the Jóvenes Talento program. They will travel under the leadership of mentors Iselda Margarita Vega Durán and Eliseo Antonio Ramírez López.
This prestigious academic gathering will bring together elite young scholars from 16 countries, including Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Spain, and Portugal. Throughout the competition, participants will face rigorous testing designed to challenge their mastery of complex biological sciences through two theoretical exams and three practical laboratory tests focused on Animal Anatomy and Systematics, Biochemistry, and Bioinformatics.
The international olympiad aims to foster scientific curiosity, reward academic excellence, and build lasting educational exchange networks among students and faculty across Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula. “We wish them great success in this important competition and in representing El Salvador,” stated representatives from the Jóvenes Talentoprogram during the announcement.
