Traffic has been fully restored along the Los Chorros section of El Salvador’s Pan-American Highway after crews completed the removal of material generated by slope blasting operations significantly ahead of schedule.
The Vice Ministry of Transport (VMT) confirmed that the roadway, which had initially been expected to remain closed for 48 hours, was reopened after only 12 hours of work. The operation was carried out by teams from the Ministry of Public Works (MOP), allowing vehicles to resume circulation in both directions.
Public Works Minister Romeo Rodríguez highlighted the accelerated completion of the operation, noting that motorists can once again travel between western areas of the country and the rest of El Salvador through this important transportation corridor.
The early reopening reduces disruption for drivers and restores normal connectivity along one of the key routes serving western El Salvador, underscoring the government’s focus on efficiently managing road infrastructure projects while minimizing impacts on traffic.
