In a continuous push to strengthen local economic development and elevate El Salvador’s tourism infrastructure, the Labor Training Center (CFL) of La Libertad Sur, in partnership with Innova Experience Academy, has announced the launch of the “Embajadores y Guías Turísticos” program. Designed specifically for residents aged 18 to 45, this fully funded, one-month initiative aims to equip locals with the skills needed to showcase iconic regional landmarks, including El Boquerón in Santa Tecla and El Peñón in Comasagua.
The comprehensive curriculum covers critical operational domains such as heritage interpretation, visitor safety, municipal route planning, basic conversational English, and storytelling techniques. According to representatives from the CFL, “this project seeks to support the personal and professional growth of participants, introducing them directly to high-demand careers as certified tourism agents.” Training sessions will run on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., beginning the second week of September.
Complementing the guide initiative, the municipality is also launching specialized coffee training at the historic Palacio Tecleño in Santa Tecla to capitalize on the region’s rich coffee culture. Tailored for entrepreneurs and aspiring coffee professionals, the two-tier offering includes an “Introduction to Barism” course focusing on bean varieties, roasting, and equipment maintenance, followed by an advanced “Barista Mastery” module covering extraction methods, recipe creation, and customer service.
These dual initiatives reflect La Libertad Sur’s broader strategy to enhance service quality across eco-tourism and hospitality sectors. By providing practical skills in both guided heritage experiences and professional coffee preparation, local authorities are opening concrete economic pathways for residents while preparing the municipality for an increasing influx of international visitors.
