El Salvador’s main aviation gateway continues to smash performance milestones, welcoming over 3 million passengersbetween January and July 2026. According to the Autonomous Port Executive Commission (CEPA), this surge reflects a broader momentum in national tourism and international flight connectivity, supported by more than 26,000 commercial flight operations during the same period.

Beyond passenger traffic, the terminal played a key role in regional trade by moving 22.5 million kilograms of cargo. CEPA attributes these landmark results to ongoing strategic investments in modern infrastructure, cutting-edge technology, and service enhancements designed to streamline operations for airlines, logistics operators, and travelers alike.
Highlighting the momentum, CEPA President Federico Anliker emphasized that the airport’s growth far exceeds regional averages. “We are growing at 16% annually. While a 3% to 5% growth rate in the region is considered excellent, our 16% increase means we are not only keeping up with demand, but actively staying ahead of it,” he stated, confirming expectations to set an all-time annual record by year-end.

The timing of this milestone coincides with the upcoming August Holidays in honor of the Divino Salvador del Mundo, one of the nation’s most pivotal tourism periods. The airport expects to process over 160,000 incoming, outgoing, and connecting passengers during the break, averaging nearly 18,000 daily travelers through its modernized facility.
To maintain security and efficiency during the holiday influx, an inter-institutional team of over 1,800 personnel—spanning customs, immigration, national police, and tourism authorities—has been deployed. With optimized operations and upgraded facilities, El Salvador International Airport is fully prepared to deliver a comfortable and seamless experience for thousands of visiting families and international tourists.
