The Government of El Salvador has launched the MOP Te Asiste roadside assistance plan to provide free emergency support to motorists traveling across the country during the August Holidays, helping ensure safer and more efficient road travel throughout the festive season.
The initiative was presented by Minister of Public Works Romeo Rodríguez, alongside officials from the Vice Ministry of Transportation (VMT) and FOVIAL. The program includes free towing services for drivers involved in traffic accidents or experiencing mechanical breakdowns on national highways.
According to Minister Rodríguez, the service will be available from July 27 through August 9 across the entire country, allowing motorists to receive assistance without charge during one of El Salvador’s busiest travel periods.
Vice Minister of Transportation Nelson Reyes emphasized that the program is being coordinated with the National Civil Police (PNC), transportation inspectors, and road management teams to provide a rapid response whenever assistance is needed. He also noted that the service is available to both Salvadorans and foreign visitors, reinforcing the government’s commitment to road safety for all travelers.
Motorists can request the MOP Te Asiste service by calling 2510-0199, where emergency roadside assistance and towing support will be provided free of charge.
The August Holidays are among El Salvador’s busiest travel seasons, and the government continues implementing measures to improve road safety, reduce traffic disruptions, and ensure a safer experience for residents and tourists traveling throughout the country.
