El Salvador is advancing international cooperation efforts after senior government officials met with the acting Executive Director of the World Food Programme (WFP) to discuss new opportunities for collaboration, sustainable development, and climate resilience.
The meeting brought together Miguel Kattan, Secretary of Commerce and Investments, Karla de Palma of Invest in El Salvador, and Carl Skau, acting Executive Director of the WFP. Discussions focused on expanding public-private partnerships that can support the country’s long-term economic and social development.
Participants also reviewed the impact of the El Niño climate phenomenon on El Salvador and the broader Central American region, analyzing strategies to strengthen preparedness and response in both the short and medium term. The dialogue highlighted the importance of coordinated action between government institutions, international organizations, and the private sector to address climate-related challenges.
The meeting reflects El Salvador’s continued efforts to build strategic international alliances that promote investment, sustainable growth, and food security while enhancing the country’s capacity to respond to the effects of climate variability across the region.
