El Salvador Congress Approves Special Decree to Award USAR and Armed Forces Rescue Teams.

The Legislative Assembly of El Salvador voted overwhelmingly to officially recognize the heroic efforts of the USAR El Salvador group and the Armed Forces’ Humanitarian Rescue Unit. A total of 59 lawmakers backed the legislative decree to publicly praise, validate, and award the tactical teams for their swift and courageous urban search and rescue operations following the June 24 earthquakes in Venezuela.

Local authorities emphasized that the Salvadoran mission operated with the highest standards of technical preparation, inter-agency coordination, and operational efficiency. Their specialized training proved vital during the critical hours of the disaster, resulting in the successful rescue of at least 10 people who had been trapped beneath collapsed structures.

During the plenary session, Nuevas Ideas congresswoman Suecy Callejas highlighted the nation’s growing solidarity and international presence despite its own resource constraints. “El Salvador is a country that slowly gains strength and shares the little it has from the heart,” Callejas stated.

This special distinction underscores El Salvador’s evolving role in international humanitarian aid and disaster relief across Latin America. By honoring these first responders, the Salvadoran government cements its commitment to regional cooperation and celebrates the bravery of its specialized personnel on the global stage.
