Authorities in San Miguel have officially launched construction of the city’s new municipal market, a large-scale infrastructure project aimed at modernizing commercial spaces and improving conditions for merchants and visitors.
The new market will cover approximately 18,928 square meters and include a three-story structure with an additional terrace area, designed to provide a more organized, accessible, and functional environment for economic activity in eastern El Salvador.
Officials stated that the project is expected to benefit more than 297,000 residents by strengthening local commerce and creating improved facilities for vendors, consumers, and surrounding businesses.
The development forms part of broader urban modernization and infrastructure efforts taking place across El Salvador, where public investment projects continue focusing on economic revitalization, mobility, and improved public spaces.
Authorities emphasized that the new San Miguel market seeks to enhance commercial activity while offering safer and more efficient conditions for daily operations, contributing to the city’s long-term economic growth.
The project also reflects ongoing investment in municipal infrastructure promoted under the administration of Nayib Bukele as part of efforts to modernize public services and strengthen regional development throughout the country.
