El Salvador continues strengthening ties with its diaspora community as returning entrepreneurs increasingly invest in local business projects and contribute to the country’s economic growth.
Diaspora businessman Milton Aquino recently launched Luxe Avenue, a women’s fashion boutique located in the Escalón area of San Salvador, after spending more than three decades building his career in the fashion industry in Los Angeles.
Aquino, who emigrated to the United States over 37 years ago, developed extensive experience working in wholesale fashion, garment manufacturing, and women’s apparel design within Los Angeles’ well-known Fashion District. After years in the industry, he decided to return and invest in El Salvador, motivated by the country’s transformation and improving business environment.
The entrepreneur described his investment as part of a broader vision to reconnect with his homeland while bringing international industry experience to the Salvadoran market. His boutique offers beachwear, casual clothing, and women’s fashion accessories, while also generating new employment opportunities in the country.
According to Aquino, the business currently provides direct jobs for five people, with plans to gradually expand operations, strengthen online sales, and eventually enter broader Central American markets.
Officials from El Salvador’s Foreign Ministry have emphasized the importance of the Salvadoran diaspora as a strategic partner in national development, highlighting the role of returning entrepreneurs in driving investment, employment, and economic dynamism across different sectors.
The growing participation of diaspora investors reflects broader efforts to position El Salvador as an attractive destination for business development, entrepreneurship, and regional expansion opportunities under the administration of Nayib Bukele.
