El Salvador Launches Region’s First BESS Pilot Program to Revolutionize Industrial Energy Storage.

In a decisive move toward grid modernization, El Salvador has been selected as the hub for the first regional pilot project for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This initiative, born from a strategic alliance between Trinergy Ecosystem and Operadores Nacionales (ON), seeks to transform how the corporate sector consumes electricity by integrating intelligent backup solutions that stabilize the grid and manage demand peaks effectively.

The project focuses on the commercial and industrial sectors—including manufacturing and logistics—where energy represents a critical operational burden. By combining solar generation with smart storage, the partnership estimates that businesses could achieve a 40% to 60% reduction in electricity costs. This pilot will serve as a technical and commercial blueprint, paving the way for the expansion of these advanced energy solutions across the rest of Central America.

Under the agreement, ENERSYS SOLAR (part of Trinergy) will lead the commercial implementation, leveraging its track record of 265 MW of installed capacity. Meanwhile, Operadores Nacionales, an official FusionSolar partner, will provide specialized technical support and post-sale services. This synergy ensures that the BESS systems are not only high-performing but also fully validated for the specific rigors of the Salvadoran industrial landscape.

Executives emphasize that this transition is essential for regional competitiveness. “Energy transition no longer depends solely on generating clean energy, but on knowing how to manage it strategically,” stated Óscar Funes, CEO of Trinergy Ecosystem. He further noted that storage is now a cornerstone for business growth, adding, “The energy future has already begun, and companies must prepare today.”

Ultimately, the incorporation of BESS technology allows over 100 regional companies already supported by Trinergy to maximize renewable resources and reduce dependence on traditional grids. By fostering energy independence, El Salvador is positioning itself as a pioneer in sustainable infrastructure, offering a scalable model for a more resilient and cost-effective regional energy market.
