The Historic Center of San Salvador has become the setting for an interactive road safety initiative designed to teach children how to navigate public spaces safely through practical learning activities.
According to VMT El Salvador, the Road Safety Simulation Mat offers young participants a dynamic and educational environment where they can learn traffic rules, pedestrian awareness, and safe mobility practices in a hands-on way.
The activity, installed in the heart of downtown San Salvador, recreates real traffic scenarios adapted for children, allowing them to experience road safety education in a controlled and family-friendly space. Authorities say the initiative aims to strengthen prevention and awareness from an early age while promoting responsible mobility habits.
Officials also confirmed that the event is free to the public and will remain available until May 14, operating daily from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to encourage road safety education and community participation in El Salvador’s revitalized Historic Center, which continues attracting families, tourists, and cultural activities as part of the capital’s urban transformation.
