Salvadoran Art Highlights 12th Art Ankara Fair Attracting Over 88,000 Visitors.

El Salvador made a significant impact at the 12th International Contemporary Art Fair, Art Ankara, joining a global community of 1,500 artists from 45 different nations. Held at the ATO Congresium, the 2026 edition of this prestigious event drew a record-breaking crowd of over 88,000 visitors, providing an unparalleled platform for Salvadoran culture to shine on the world stage.

The Salvadoran presence was anchored by a curated exhibition featuring 25 masterworks from two of the country’s most iconic creators: Fernando Llort and Miguel Ángel Ramírez. The collection, which included a blend of paintings, serigraphs, and lithographs, captivated international collectors and art enthusiasts by showcasing the unique aesthetic and symbolic richness of the Central American nation.

Coordinated by the Embassy of El Salvador in Turkiye, the national pavilion served as a bridge for cultural exchange within a massive program that featured 33 talks, 34 workshops, and 39 live concerts. The strategic participation sought to move beyond traditional diplomacy, using contemporary art as a medium to foster dialogue and education among a diverse, specialized audience.

The Salvadoran Ambassador to Turkiye, Héctor Jaime, emphasized the strategic importance of the event for the country’s global image. Participation in ARTANKARA represented a valuable opportunity to strengthen the positioning of El Salvador as a creative, dynamic country with a vibrant cultural identity, the Ambassador stated, noting that the fair also helped forge deeper international ties for local talent.

By positioning the works of Llort and Ramírez in such a high-traffic international venue, El Salvador continues to redefine its global narrative through the lens of creativity. This successful showcase at Art Ankara 2026 underscores the country’s growing influence in the contemporary art world and its commitment to promoting Salvadoran excellence across borders.
