El Salvador is set to host the CENTAM Guardian 2026, a large-scale multinational exercise aimed at enhancing regional security cooperation and operational readiness across Central America and partner nations.
Scheduled to take place from April 16 to 27, 2026, the exercise will be co-hosted with the United States Southern Command and will bring together military and security forces from several countries, including Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, Belize, the Dominican Republic, and the United States.
CENTAM Guardian 2026 builds on previous editions and focuses on strengthening coordination, interoperability, and joint response capabilities among participating nations. The initiative reflects a shared commitment to addressing evolving challenges such as transnational threats, natural disasters, and humanitarian emergencies.
According to officials, the exercise will include a series of coordinated training operations across different locations in El Salvador, allowing participating forces to enhance their preparedness in complex and dynamic scenarios.
Authorities also noted that residents may observe increased logistical activity, including the movement of helicopters and military aircraft, as part of the preparation and execution phases of the exercise.
