The government of El Salvador has officially launched the construction of a modern interchange at kilometer 5, a strategic location historically affected by heavy congestion, long delays, and traffic accidents.
The project aims to transform this critical junction, which connects the La Hachadura Border Crossing with the Port of Acajutla, improving road safety and facilitating the movement of goods, tourists, and daily commuters.
Authorities and Minister of Public Works, Romeo Rodríguez highlighted that the new infrastructure will help organize traffic flow, significantly reduce congestion, and enhance mobility in one of the country’s most important transportation corridors. The initiative is expected to streamline logistics operations and strengthen trade connectivity across the region.

The groundbreaking ceremony marks a key step in El Salvador’s broader strategy to modernize infrastructure and support economic growth through efficient transportation systems.
With this project, El Salvador continues to invest in high-impact public works designed to improve quality of life, promote tourism, and reinforce its position as a regional hub for commerce and logistics.
