Salvadoran Diaspora Investment Boosts Tourism Growth in Surf City 2

Investment from the Salvadoran diaspora continues to play a key role in strengthening tourism and local economic development in El Salvador, particularly within the government-led Surf City 2 initiative.

Entrepreneur Doris Campos has launched a new tourism project on El Toro Beach, where she developed the “Sol a Sol” hotel. Inspired by the country’s improved security conditions and growing international appeal, Campos identified an opportunity to invest in the eastern region and contribute to its economic transformation.

Her project highlights the increasing confidence among Salvadorans living abroad, many of whom are now returning to explore investment opportunities. Campos emphasized that today’s environment offers stability, safety, and long-term potential for growth in the tourism sector.

Located in a natural and tranquil coastal setting, the hotel offers visitors a combination of local gastronomy, scenic landscapes, and personalized experiences. The initiative has already generated employment and supported local supply chains, benefiting dozens of providers and workers in the region.

Campos also acknowledged the support provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of El Salvador, which has facilitated connections and guidance for diaspora investors seeking to establish businesses in the country.

As part of her future plans, the businesswoman is considering expanding operations with a second hotel, further contributing to the growth of tourism infrastructure in the region.

Surf City 2, a flagship project promoted under the administration of President Nayib Bukele, aims to enhance connectivity and tourism development across eastern departments such as Usulután, San Miguel, and La Unión. With new roads, upgraded beaches, and modern infrastructure, the initiative continues to position El Salvador as an emerging destination for international visitors and investors alike.
