U.S. and El Salvador Strengthen Energy Partnership with 123 Agreement

The governments of United States and El Salvador have successfully concluded negotiations on a 123 Agreement, marking a significant step forward in bilateral cooperation on energy and technological development.

The announcement was made by Thomas G. DiNanno, U.S. Under Secretary of State, who highlighted the completion of negotiations with Salvadoran authorities, including Daniel Álvarez, president of the Hydroelectric Executive Commission of the Lempa River, and Milena Mayorga, Ambassador of El Salvador to the United States.

Officials from both countries expressed their commitment to advancing the remaining steps required before the agreement is formally signed and enters into force. The 123 Agreement framework is designed to facilitate cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy, strengthening energy security and opening new opportunities for technological collaboration.

According to Thomas G. DiNanno, the milestone reinforces the strategic partnership between United States and El Salvador, while supporting economic cooperation and the development of advanced energy initiatives.

The progress reflects growing bilateral engagement between the two nations as they continue working together on energy diplomacy, innovation, and long-term development initiatives.
