El Salvador Announces Plans to Develop Nuclear Energy Within Seven Years

El Salvador and the United States have taken another step toward strengthening cooperation in clean energy and technological innovation through a new agreement focused on nuclear energy development.

According to Milena Mayorga, El Salvador’s ambassador to the United States, both countries signed a new document to expand the exchange of technical information and cooperation related to nuclear energy initiatives.

The agreement forms part of the ongoing working agenda between El Salvador and the United States, reflecting efforts to advance innovation and explore new sources of clean and reliable energy.

The initiative aligns with the vision promoted by President Nayib Bukele, who has highlighted nuclear energy as a strategic option to strengthen the country’s energy production and support long-term economic development.

Officials noted that the collaboration will allow both nations to share technical expertise and best practices as El Salvador evaluates the potential implementation of nuclear energy infrastructure. Ambassador Milena Mayorga stated that, if the project continues advancing as planned, the country could develop nuclear energy capacity within the next several years.

The agreement reflects growing cooperation between El Salvador and the United States in areas of innovation, energy diversification, and sustainable development.
