El Salvador is once again positioning itself as a premium origin in the global specialty coffee market, as representatives from Argentine coffee chain Café Martínez tour the country’s most renowned coffee regions. The visit underscores growing international interest in Salvadoran beans, known for their balance, sweetness, and consistent cup quality.
The delegation includes Federico Iacovino, winner of the company’s 6th International Barismo Championship held in Buenos Aires in October 2025. His visit to El Salvador is part of the prize awarded after the competition, coordinated with the Instituto Salvadoreño del Café and supported by the Embajada de El Salvador en Argentina. The experience was designed to connect high-level baristas directly with the origin of the beans they serve.
Throughout their stay, the group has visited farms across the country’s main coffee mountain ranges, observing every stage of production — from planting and harvesting to processing and drying. The immersion offers firsthand insight into the care and generational knowledge that define Salvadoran coffee cultivation, strengthening trust between producers and international buyers.
In a statement during the tour, Iacovino said, “Since I arrived, they have been showing me everything related to the coffee we worked with during the tournament. Seeing the grain here, at its origin, fills me with information and pride.” Company representatives emphasized that Café Martínez seeks coffees with controlled acidity and pronounced sweetness, qualities they consistently find in Salvadoran beans.
With 230 locations across Argentina and operations in Paraguay and Uruguay, Café Martínez views origin visits as essential to maintaining quality and authenticity in its offerings. Salvadoran producers and the Argentine delegation agreed that exchanges like this not only elevate specialty coffee standards but also open new commercial and cultural opportunities between both nations, reinforcing El Salvador’s reputation as a reliable premium coffee supplier.
