El Salvador welcomed a new wave of international visitors this week as the Hebridean Sky, operated by Noble Caledonia, docked at the Port of La Unión, further strengthening the country’s growing reputation as a boutique cruise destination in Central America.
More than 100 travelers disembarked to explore eastern El Salvador, venturing beyond traditional tourist routes and into historic towns, volcanic landscapes, and culturally significant sites. Their itinerary included stops in Perquín, Alegría, El Mozote, Santiago de María, and the scenic slopes of the Conchagua Volcano.
One of the most memorable moments of the visit took place along the Pacific coast in Punta Chiquirín, where passengers participated in a sea turtle release program. The conservation activity offered visitors the opportunity to contribute directly to local environmental efforts while experiencing the country’s biodiversity firsthand.
“This is more than tourism; it’s a meaningful connection with nature,” one visitor remarked during the event, describing the emotional moment as the hatchlings made their way toward the ocean.
The arrival of the Hebridean Sky marks the sixth cruise call of the 2025–2026 season and the third of 2026, underscoring growing international confidence in El Salvador’s security, infrastructure, and tourism potential. As cruise lines continue to include the country in their itineraries, officials see these visits as a sign of El Salvador’s expanding presence on the global travel map.
