El Salvador Becomes the Stage for the World Downhill Skateboarding Championship

The Ministry of Public Works (MOP) has confirmed that all preparations are complete for the World Downhill Skateboarding Championship, set to take place from December 4 to 7 on the Comasagua–Tamanique highway. The international event positions El Salvador once again on the global stage as a destination for high-level sports competitions.

According to the Ministry, athletes from around the world will compete on a 2.2-kilometer course designed to meet the technical standards required for world-class downhill skateboarding. The stretch of roadway offers the speed, slope, and safety conditions necessary for the championship, which is expected to draw elite competitors and international attention.

The event contributes to the country’s growing reputation as a host for global sporting events, following significant investments in infrastructure and road modernization. The Comasagua–Tamanique route, located in a scenic mountainous area near Surf City, provides an ideal backdrop for an extreme sport that demands precision, control, and high-speed performance.

The World Downhill Skateboarding Championship also aligns with El Salvador’s broader strategy of promoting sports tourism, enhancing community engagement, and showcasing the country’s natural landscapes to international audiences.

With infrastructure ready and safety measures in place, El Salvador welcomes athletes, teams, and visitors for four days of world-level downhill skateboarding competition.
