El Salvador continues strengthening its international cultural presence as the Historic Center of San Salvador becomes one of the region’s most dynamic creative stages. On Rubén Darío Street, the Government of President Nayib Bukele supported the fifth edition of Fashion for a Cause, a renowned regional runway event that showcased top designers and reaffirmed the capital’s rising status as a fashion hub in Central America.
The event brought together established and emerging designers from El Salvador, Guatemala, and Nicaragua. Models from across the region presented collections by Salvadoran talents including Luciana Sandoval, Kathia Galindo, and the MALM design collective. The initiative highlighted the government’s ongoing commitment to revitalizing public spaces and promoting cultural, economic, and creative development in the Historic Center.
Adriana Larín, Director General of the Historic Center Authority of El Salvador, emphasized the significance of hosting events of this magnitude in a space that has undergone a remarkable transformation. “It is important to see this street revitalized—full of joy, full of people appreciating the work being done and actively contributing to the local economy. Every visitor supports entrepreneurs and local businesses,” Larín stated.
Designer and director of Fashion for a Cause, Juan Carlos Najarro, explained that the charitable platform has existed for seven years, and the fifth edition in the Historic Center marks an important milestone in promoting fashion tourism. “Thanks to the support of the Historic Center Authority, we are achieving this goal,” he said.
With initiatives like this, President Bukele’s administration continues to position the Historic Center of San Salvador as a renewed, vibrant, and internationally appealing district. The transformation in security, infrastructure, and cultural programming has turned the area into a model of urban revitalization—one that is now attracting national and international visitors and placing El Salvador firmly on the regional fashion map.
