New JW Marriott San Salvador Will Feature 186 Rooms, Spa, and World-Class Amenities.

The construction of the JW Marriott San Salvador, an ambitious project set to redefine luxury hospitality in El Salvador’s capital, has reached 10% completion, according to José Ángel Berdugo, Engineering Manager at Grupo Roble.

“We are in the foundation and piling excavation phase. This is the first stage of the project, and we expect to begin the main structure in January. Completion is projected for late 2027,” Berdugo told Diario El Salvador.

With an $80 million investment, the hotel is being developed by Real Hotels & Resorts within the Multiplaza complex, strategically located between El Pedregal Street and the Pan-American Highway. The project, currently advancing through construction permits and earthworks, aims to strengthen the country’s growing tourism sector. “We trust that Salvadoran tourism is increasing, and we want to take advantage of that,” added Berdugo.

Luis Rodríguez, Executive Director of the Office of Planning for the Metropolitan Area of San Salvador (Opamss), confirmed the project’s compliance with all regulatory parameters. “The project meets all necessary standards, and we are evaluating its HAUS certification to ensure it has all the credentials that add value,” Rodríguez said.

Once completed, the 16-story JW Marriott San Salvador will feature 186 rooms—standard, double, and suite categories—alongside three restaurants, a state-of-the-art gym, a spa with private and public pools, and an outdoor bar area. The hotel will also offer event halls, terraces, green spaces, and an executive lounge on the 15th floor, as well as underground parking for 354 vehicles.

Designed by international architectural firm CallisonRTKL, with interiors by Watermark, the development will also include residential buildings, a theater, commercial spaces, and corporate offices. It is expected to generate about 1,400 jobs during construction and 420 once operational.

Real Hotels & Resorts, part of Grupo Poma, already operates JW Marriott hotels in Guanacaste, Costa Rica, and Bogotá, Colombia. The San Salvador property will mark its third JW Marriott and further solidify El Salvador’s position in the high-end tourism market of Central America.
