New Projects Could Create Over 25,000 Jobs as Investments Rise in El Salvador.

El Salvador has recorded more than $100 million in new and expanded capital investment over the past year, according to the latest annual report from the Ministry of Economy (Minec). The report highlights that this investment flow also includes new business domicile registrations from both national and foreign companies.

“More than $100 million in initial capital investment, capital increases, and national and foreign domicile registrations were recorded,” the report stated.

The investment corresponds to 70 companies operating in sectors such as call centers, real estate, software development, general commerce, business services, and construction.

Between June 2024 and May 2025, the ministry reported a 34 percent increase in services provided to companies through the Subdirectory of Business Climate and the National Investment Office, reflecting growing investor interest. This translated into an increase of $96 million in registered capital and expansions.

During the last year, 578 companies received 686 advisory services related to national and foreign capital registration, formalization requirements, and assistance with pending administrative procedures. These included guidance for obtaining tax identification numbers (NIT) and registering for value-added tax (IVA).

Minec also noted an increase in personalized attention after the virtual service desk formerly managed by the National Investment Office (ONI) transitioned to the National Registry Center (CNR). In addition, the Subdirectory of Investment Facilitation supported 295 companies with specialized advice on special regimes and formalization processes.

“This personalized assistance was provided to national and foreign companies, of which 94 are currently operating, 35 are in the process of expansion, and 166 are new projects interested in establishing investment in the country,” the report added.

If the projects currently in expansion and new ventures move forward as expected, potential investments could total $542.54 million and generate an estimated 25,477 permanent direct jobs.
