A group of Salvadorans is about to fulfill their dream of studying abroad, thanks to the full scholarship program offered by the Government of Türkiye, a result of the strong ties of friendship and cooperation between both nations. Sixteen students will depart to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate studies in fields considered strategic for today’s global challenges and El Salvador’s development.

These scholarships represent much more than an academic opportunity for a group of Salvadoran youth: they symbolize the shared will of our nations to invest in education, human talent, and sustainable development as engines of prosperity, said Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Adriana Mira during the symbolic credential ceremony held at the Ministry. She explained that the program covers Turkish language studies, tuition, housing, health insurance, airfare, and a monthly stipend, allowing students to focus fully on their studies.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the people and Government of Türkiye for their generous support and for opening these valuable opportunities for academic and professional growth, Mira added.
Türkiye’s ambassador to El Salvador, Gül Büyükerşen, emphasized that her country’s scholarship program is recognized worldwide. Thanks to this global initiative, international students can study at some of Türkiye’s most prestigious universities. I invite you to appreciate not only your academic studies but also the cultural experiences awaiting you, she remarked.

Among the beneficiaries is María José Hernández, who will pursue a postgraduate degree in marketing. I am very excited and eager for the cultural exchange. It was one of my main motivations from the moment I applied, she said. Mateo Artega, 19, will study international relations. This is a great opportunity for young people to study in Türkiye. I believe these five years will help me grow both personally and professionally, he expressed.
The Salvadoran Agency for International Cooperation (ESCO) played a key role in promoting the scholarships and guiding applicants, with its director, Karla de Palma, present at the event.
