El Salvador’s Embassy in Japan recently coordinated an exhibition featuring young Salvadoran artists who won the Artistic Contest commemorating 90 years of diplomatic relations between El Salvador and Japan. The works were displayed at Hibiya Okuroji’s H05 gallery, one of Tokyo’s busiest cultural spaces, from September 2 to 8.

A total of 27 digital pieces created by Salvadoran students were showcased, each reflecting shared values such as friendship, mutual respect, community spirit, and cultural dialogue. The artworks were accompanied by “creative diaries,” where the young artists documented their process of inspiration and design.

The exhibition was inaugurated by El Salvador’s Ambassador to Japan, Diego Dalton. “It is a true honor to share this moment within the framework of the 90th anniversary of diplomatic relations between El Salvador and Japan,” he said. He also emphasized that the event fulfilled a promise made during the award ceremony in San Salvador months earlier. “Today, I am pleased to see that expectation fulfilled: we are witnessing creations that invite us to discover how our Salvadoran identity dialogues with Japanese culture through art.”

The event drew members of the diplomatic corps, Japanese government representatives, cultural associations, and the Salvadoran diaspora. Through the exhibition, El Salvador highlighted student talent while promoting the country’s positive transformation to Japanese and international audiences.
