El Salvador Citizens to Benefit from Streamlined Vehicle Entry at Guatemala Border Points.

The Guatemalan Institute of Migration (IGM) announced Thursday that starting Monday, September 16, a new fast-track border crossing system will be implemented at points of entry with El Salvador. The initiative will allow travelers to complete migration checks without leaving their vehicles.

The system will apply exclusively to citizens of the CA4 agreement countries: Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua. It will be available at four designated border crossings: Las Chinamas, San Cristóbal, La Hachadura, and Anguiatú.

Authorities clarified that this option will not be available for travelers accompanied by minors, who must undergo the regular migration process. The measure also excludes citizens from outside the CA4 region.

The IGM emphasized that the initiative seeks to “offer an agile and secure service, while ensuring orderly transit at Guatemala’s borders.”
