The U.S. Embassy in El Salvador has inaugurated a new annex at the International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA), significantly expanding the country’s training capacity and reinforcing bilateral cooperation in combating crime and terrorism.
Chargé d’Affaires Naomi Fellows led the inauguration of the facility, which increases training capacity by 30% and provides enhanced resources for law enforcement professionals from El Salvador and the region. “This annex represents a milestone in our ongoing partnership, strengthening our shared commitment to security and stability,” Fellows stated.
The new building honors the legacy of Commissioner General Mauricio Arriaza Chicas, an ILEA alumnus who dedicated his life to protecting the Salvadoran people. His lifelong commitment to law enforcement serves as a model for future generations of security professionals trained at ILEA San Salvador.
Through initiatives like this, the United States and El Salvador continue to reinforce their collaboration in the fight against organized crime, terrorism, and other security challenges, positioning El Salvador as a safer and more resilient nation in the region.
