According to Forbes, U.S. Senator Ted Cruz recently praised El Salvador for its significant progress in public safety, noting that in 2015 the country had one of the highest homicide rates in the world. Senator Cruz highlighted a reported 98% reduction in homicides under the administration of President Nayib Bukele.
