The Embassy of El Salvador in Bolivia recently took part in the third edition of the “Specialty Coffee Expo Bolivia 2025,” one of the country’s most prominent coffee-focused trade fairs, held in Santa Cruz from July 17 to 20.

For the first time, El Salvador’s diplomatic mission participated in the event with a dedicated stand, promoting the “Café de El Salvador” brand and capturing the interest of buyers, experts, and coffee enthusiasts. The effort was supported by coffee expert Marcelo Alas, honorary consul of El Salvador in Paraguay, who also delivered a talk to local coffee producers, sharing insights on importing Salvadoran coffee to South American markets.

The expo featured the first-ever “Cata de Café de El Salvador” in Bolivia, with 11 notable coffee shops sampling various Salvadoran varieties, including the renowned red bourbon from the Apaneca-Ilamatepec mountain range. Additionally, 11 entrepreneurs, some of them food business owners, attended an “Introduction to the World of Coffee” workshop, exploring specialty coffee varieties, brewing methods, tasting techniques, and sustainable practices.

These activities not only strengthened commercial ties but also paved the way for future export and collaboration opportunities between El Salvador and Bolivia’s coffee industry.
