On August 10, El Salvador joined Ecuador in commemorating the National Day of Ecuador, marking the anniversary of the First Cry of Independence. The Salvadoran government, led by President Nayib Bukele, celebrated this occasion as a moment to deepen the friendship between the two nations. Key representatives included Morena Valdez, Minister of Tourism; Adriana Mira, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs; Cindy Portal, Vice Minister of Diaspora and Human Mobility; and Laura Donoso, Ecuador’s Ambassador to El Salvador.
Minister Morena Valdez highlighted ongoing efforts to promote a tourism exchange agreement between the countries. “We are working on a memorandum of understanding to exchange experiences in sports tourism. Ecuador also has great waves for surfing. We want to share general tourism experiences because both countries offer unique destinations due to their geographic location,” she said.
Ambassador Donoso expressed optimism about the progress in diplomatic relations. “Since the start of diplomatic ties, we have focused on strengthening bonds of friendship and mutual respect. Since my arrival, we have held two joint commission meetings with promising projects and meaningful solutions. The conditions for tourism and commercial development between Ecuador and El Salvador are already showing results,” she stated.
