El Salvador’s construction industry has experienced 22.3% growth so far this year, fueled by new investments, increased investor confidence, and the stability provided by President Nayib Bukele’s administration.
According to Luis Rodríguez, Executive Director of COAMSS-OPAMSS, the sector’s strong performance is the result of government strategies to attract capital, ensure legal certainty for entrepreneurs, and implement large-scale public investment projects.
Key policy measures—including enhanced national security, fiscal discipline, the reduction of municipalities, and a firm commitment to infrastructure development—have accelerated the sector’s expansion.
Rodríguez emphasized that 2025 was projected to be the “year of investment in construction”, a forecast now confirmed by historic results. Collaboration between COAMSS-OPAMSS, the Salvadoran Chamber of the Construction Industry (CASALCO), and other business unions has been instrumental in this achievement.
The sector currently generates 165,000 jobs, while imports of construction materials through the Port of Acajutla have surged by more than 50%, reflecting the demand for large-scale projects nationwide.
With sustained investment and a favorable business climate, El Salvador is positioning itself as one of the fastest-growing construction markets in Central America, signaling long-term opportunities for local and international developers.
