El Salvador has reported only one homicide in the entire month of July 2025, a figure that marks a historic milestone in the country’s ongoing security transformation under President Nayib Bukele’s leadership. According to official data shared by presidential advisor Porfirio Chica, the nation has now reached 975 days without a homicide since Bukele assumed office in 2019.
This continued decline in violent crime reflects the effectiveness of El Salvador’s comprehensive security strategy, which includes the Territorial Control Plan and ongoing exceptional measures aimed at dismantling criminal structures and restoring peace.
The milestone adds to a series of security achievements that have drawn international attention and reshaped El Salvador’s image from one of the most dangerous countries in the world to a model of regional crime reduction.
