Seven Salvadoran students have arrived in Lugano, Switzerland, as part of the CUBO+ Econ Generation program—an advanced Bitcoin education initiative led by El Salvador’s National Bitcoin Office and supported by President Nayib Bukele’s government.
Selected for their academic excellence and leadership potential, the students—Erickson Elías, Jessica Zavaleta, José Sáenz, Francisco Hernández, Cristian García, Rodrigo Trujillo, and Juan José Barrera—will take part in the prestigious Plan B Summer School. The program offers intensive Bitcoin-focused training, workshops, and discussions with global leaders in the digital economy.
Their journey began in San Salvador, filled with emotion, gratitude, and excitement. For many, it was their first time leaving El Salvador, and for others, their first international flight. After a layover in Madrid—where they were warmly received by the Embassy of El Salvador and toured the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium—the group continued to Lugano via Milan.
Now settled in the scenic Swiss city surrounded by mountains and lakes, the students have already begun exploring their new surroundings and engaging in cultural immersion ahead of the academic sessions. Their visit represents more than a scholarship opportunity—it reflects El Salvador’s commitment to building a new generation of Bitcoin-savvy professionals capable of transforming the nation’s future.
The CUBO+ program, led by Stacy Herbert of the National Bitcoin Office, is a cornerstone of El Salvador’s vision to remain a global pioneer in Bitcoin adoption and digital innovation.
