Marriott International has signed a multi-unit agreement with Salvadoran firms Corporación Polaris and Cardedeu to open four City Express by Marriott hotels in El Salvador between 2026 and 2027. This marks the brand’s debut in the country and reflects growing investor confidence in El Salvador’s tourism sector.

The first hotel, with 31 rooms, will be built in San Salvador’s Historic Center, with construction starting in late 2025. Other locations include the international airport area, Santa Elena, and San Benito, a district known for its nightlife and cultural venues.
“We are thrilled to introduce City Express by Marriott in El Salvador,” said Alonso Burgos, Marriott’s VP of Development for Latin America and the Caribbean. “This agreement strengthens our commitment to expanding quality accommodations in the region.”
The four hotels will add 440 rooms to Marriott’s portfolio. Additionally, the JW Marriott Hotel San Salvador, a project with Grupo Poma, will begin construction soon within the Multiplaza complex.
Tourism Minister Morena Valdez emphasized the government’s support for these developments. “This investment reflects the improved perception of El Salvador and the growing interest of both local and international investors,” she said.
