El Salvador continues to strengthen its record on public safety with 16 homicide-free days out of the 19 so far this June, according to official statistics released early this morning by the National Civil Police (PNC). The latest figure, recorded on Thursday, June 19th, adds to the growing number of days without violent deaths in 2025.

This trend reinforces El Salvador’s position as the safest country in the Western Hemisphere, a title earned through sustained results under President Nayib Bukele’s administration. So far this year, the country has registered 140 homicide-free days, a direct outcome of comprehensive public security strategies such as the Territorial Control Plan and the state of emergency, which has been in effect since March 27, 2022.

Historical monthly breakdowns show consistent progress:
- January: 25 homicide-free days
- March: 22 days
- April: 25 days
- May: 25 days
- June (so far): 16 out of 19 days
In 2024, El Salvador ended the year with an average of 0.3 homicides per day, but in 2025, that number has dropped further to 0.19 per day, indicating a continued downward trend in violent crime.
Since President Bukele took office in 2019, El Salvador has accumulated 938 days without homicides, including 824 days during the state of emergency, a policy that has played a critical role in dismantling criminal networks and restoring public order across the country.
The reduction in homicides has bolstered investor confidence, improved the country’s international image, and allowed citizens and visitors to enjoy greater safety in both urban and rural areas.
