The Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) has officially opened the MAEC-AECID scholarship program for Salvadoran citizens interested in pursuing higher education opportunities in Europe. The application period began on June 9 and will close on June 20, 2025.
This year, 30 scholarships are available for Salvadorans. Among them, 19 are for artistic creation and research residencies at the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome, while 11 scholarships are offered for a master’s degree in Diplomacy and International Relations at the Spanish Diplomatic School.
Interested candidates must apply via the official AECID website, www.aecid.gob.es, and submit their information in Spanish. Before accessing the online application form, applicants must register on the AECID electronic office platform, specifically in the Citizens’ Folder, to ensure proper identification and notification.

The Royal Academy scholarships include:
- Individual accommodation in Rome
- A monthly stipend of €1,400 (approx. $1,598.68)
- Coverage for artistic production costs up to €5,000 ($5,709) in 2025
- Up to €15,000 ($17,128.73) in 2026 for extended projects
The 11 Diplomatic School scholarships provide:
- A monthly stipend of €1,500 ($1,700)
- Health insurance coverage during the scholarship period in Spain
According to AECID, this initiative is promoted by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation (MAEUEC), with the objective of strengthening international collaboration in artistic, academic, and diplomatic fields.
