El Salvador’s Coffee Exports Surge 69%, Fueled by Rising Demand in Asia.

El Salvador’s exports grew by 5% in the first four months of 2025 compared to the same period last year, according to Minister of Economy María Luisa Hayem, who credited the increase to the country’s economic modernization strategy and enhanced security climate.

In an interview broadcast on Channel 10, Minister Hayem emphasized the government’s success in promoting Salvadoran products abroad, particularly coffee, which saw a remarkable 69% growth in exports—the highest among the country’s key export goods.

“Our exports have increased by 5% from January to April, compared to the same period last year,” Hayem stated. “This is the result of measures that have been taken in recent years, with the aim of positioning coffee as a high-value product that is enjoying high demand from Asian countries.”

The minister attributed the surge in coffee exports to a targeted policy of revaluation and promotion of Salvadoran coffee in global markets, particularly in Asia, where demand for premium-quality coffee has expanded significantly.

Hayem also highlighted that improved security conditions under President Nayib Bukele’s administration have played a critical role in restoring economic confidence and attracting international investment.

El Salvador’s economic performance in 2025 positions the country as a growing player in specialty coffee exports and a model for combining public safety with trade development in Central America.
